David is
founder and president of The
Spaulding Group, Inc., a firm that focuses
exclusively on investment performance measurement.
He is the founder and publisher of The Journal
of Performance Measurement ®
. David initiated the idea for certifying
investment performance measurement professionals.
He holds a BA in Mathematics from Temple University,
an MS in Systems Management from the University
of Southern California, and an MBA in Finance
from the University of Baltimore. He has been
actively involved in performance measurement for
20 years and has served on numerous committees
including:
- AIMR-PPS ® Implementation
Committee
- Investment Performance Council
- IPC Interpretations Subcommittee.

| David
consults to numerous institutions on all aspects of
investment performance measurement. His clients include
some of the largest money managers, brokerage firms,
custodians, and software vendors.
David spent six years in local politics, which included
four years as Mayor of his home town of 38,000, where
he was responsible for a budget of more than $30 million
and a staff over 250.

Publications |

David has authored three books: Measuring Investment
Performance (McGraw-Hill, 1997), Investment
Performance Attribution (McGraw-Hill, 2003),
and The Handbook of Investment Performance
(TSG Publishing, 2005).
He is a
contributing author to Performance Measurement
in Finance (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2002). He
also wrote TSG's Guide to the Performance Presentation
Standards and The Spaulding Group's Performance,
Attribution and Risk Measurement Reference Guide ,
which is in its second edition. He has also written
numerous articles for various publications. |

| Training |
David
has developed and taught classes on investment performance
measurement, performance attribution, and the presentation
standards. He has taught classes throughout North
America, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East.
He has also been selected by the CFA Institute for
more than five years to conduct their training on
the presentation standards. |
